Bodywall was developed right here in New Zealand by Chris Toal, a Qualified Therapeutic Masseur specialising in treating unresponsive soft tissue trauma and skeletal imbalance.

In 1999 Chris became frustrated at treating quite large numbers of injuries that were easily avoided by releasing tension within soft tissues.  Research told him customers would only use it if the solution was easy to use, fast and effective.  Chris invented Bodywall.

Pacific Health & Fitness Ltd became strategic partners in 2002 and Intellectual Property protection began, prototypes were developed and Bodywall Ltd was formed.

In 2003 the Auckland University of Technology began effectiveness evaluations to prove the Bodywall system actually worked at stretching tissue by testing for changes in Range of Motion.  Change in range of movement would indicate load had been applied to muscles joints, ligaments and tendons.  The results clearly showed that Bodywall was onto something significant, so more investors were brought onboard and Massey University’s Industrial Design Department was engaged to develop ergonomic, high adhesion rapid release gloves and shoes.  Patented new and amazingly strong 3M Dual Lock technology was introduced by 3M New Zealand.  After many trials and tests, the specialist wall materials were specified in 2005.

After 2005, two years of in house testing and development were completed by engaging with leading national and international athletes who were introduced to and contributed to the technology. In order to meet their demanding requirements, Bodywall worked with a number of New Zealand firms and many times these collaborations led to completely new processes and patents. Today a wide range of sports specific equipment has been developed so that virtually all sports can be catered for. The system now has special adaptors for reproducing exact actions and loads for sports as diverse as Rugby, Cricket, Tennis, Golf, Hockey, Netball, Skiing, Boxing, Kickboxing, Weightlifting and many more.

To ensure that trainers would have extremely safe and effective procedures, training manuals and an instructional DVD were produced outlining each step in the use of the system, with full anatomical descriptions and training plans. A fitness testing regimen was developed to ensure we would be able to meet the rigorous standards of modern professional sports teams and Physiotherapists.

With IP protection worldwide including patents and trade marks, operational systems and processes, and an online booking system, Bodywall is finally ready to be shown to the world.  With support and assistance from hundreds of people contributing thousands of hours, we are proud to introduce the world to the Bodywall training system.
